Award-winning, storyteller-actor-humorist, Anthony Kavanah will appear in regional theatrical productions in Quebec, and has been highly in demand in Europe as well.
The famous Haitian-Canadian humorist has started an international tour that will kick off on May 16 at the Capitole Theater of Quebec and at the Olympia of Montreal. Kavanah believes he needs to keep comedy alive through the power of live storytelling, and jokes.
He produces exciting programs of multicultural folktales, mixing traditional telling with creative drama. Kavanah has shows suitable for all ages, and it seems there is an audience prepared to listen. The artist will head to Paris where he will perform sold out shows at the Palais des Sports.

Surf Sister is the first time all-female Haitian band out of Canada that is hitting the world stage since the release of their first album in October 2007. The four member group was discovered five years ago by a dentist, Elliot Mechanic, who fell in love with their powerful lyrics, fantastic vocal appeal and showmanship.
She bought a church, converted it into a recording studio just for the ladies. Madja, Rose, Sandra and Tamara are from north Montreal and Rivière des Prairies. The band began in 2003 with a simple premise, all female members, all live music and all live vocals. Since they released their album, the Surf Sisters have performed more than one hundred shows throughout North America, Europe, Asia, and are considered by most critics as the next TLC or Destiny's Child.
Steeped in the improvisation culture of Haitian stories, Marc Bamuthi Joseph uses his talent as orator and poetry performance as a full-time job.
After almost a decade in the spotlight, Joseph will be performing at this year Spoleto Festival in North Carolina on May 29. Marc Bamuthi Joseph is a National Poetry Slam champion, 2003 GOLDIE award winner, former Stanford University IDA resident artist, Broadway veteran, featured artist on Russell Simmons' Def Poetry on HBO and a recipient of 2002 and 2004 National Performance Network Creation commissions.
Marc Bamuthi Joseph's newest work, Scourge, adeptly fuses hip hop, spoken word, and live music to explore the narrow space between history, myth and speculation. In Scourge, Joseph digs into his ancestral roots to tell the story of Haiti.

Radio Antilles International director, Jacques Sampeur, has been appointed as the new President of the Haitian National Media Association, taking up the office that was held by Anne-Marie Issa since 2006. Accepting the appointment, Sampeur said, "I am honored to be appointed President of the ANMH at a time when situations are tough for all the Medias, especially when security for the journalists is a daily issue". The outgoing president recognized that some of the objectives of the association were not met as planned, such as the opening of a library and a press club, which she hopes will be accomplished under the new president.

Despite the stereotypes the western world has put on vodou, they can't, nevertheless, distant themselves from this religion that is still an enigma for some people.
"Une Mémoire Vodou," a 17-minute movie produced by Swiss cinematographer Irène Lichtenstein will be shown at the Geneva Museum of Ethnography until August.
The movie highlights the beauty and significance of an extraordinary vodou art collection that translates Haitian life as the world has never seen before.
Since December, thousands of students, scholars, religious leaders, and journalists have flocked to the museum to rediscover Haiti through Vodou art.
